Have you not thought about obtaining some M3 sideskirts and having them sprayed and fitted over the top? Would look much better
Not sure if they're all like it but the missus 93 318is had the half painted bumpers and grey sills (car is brilliant red) and the grey had started to wear through in places and was showing nice shiney red paint underneath so to tidy it up I used some fairly mild thinners (tar and glue remover would possibly work) and 30mins later one sill was very shiney red the thinners hadn't touched the red at all and the car looks alot better. I'm pretty sure the sills still have the textured coating under the red as well but can't check at the moment as it's a bit dark!!

These M3 skirts can be found cheaply and look the DB's got some on mine and better than spraying up the rubbers-as to using spray paint I would spray then use T-cut then spray again and so forth till I got the desired smooth effect-cheaper than getting a spray gun and compressor just a lot more time and elbow grease involved

Went to get some spray cans from BMW this morning and they wanted £19.99 for a very small 150ml can.

Can anyone recommend a place on the internet that I can get some Calypso Red?

The local shops don't stock Calypso rad for the BMW.

    Thanks

I have found a place to order from.

If I was to use 400ml spray cans to do both side sills, the front and back bumpers, one rear wheel arch and the bottom part of the front door how many cans do you think I would have to order?
