    Awltite,
I have fitted an aftermarket 6k xenon headlight kit to my motor about 3 months ago and I am pleased with them but last night I got a pull from the traffic rozzers just on the slip road going onto the motorway and they said that my lights were not legal and dazzling other road users slapped me with a 30 quid fine....ratbags to say the least!
He said I dont have to change em, its up to me.....so y would he tell me this and fine me. It was at 5pm last night so it was pretty dark and I said to him so you want me to drive home with my headlights off, just my sidelights and he said no no no keep them on. Wtf??

Does anyone know if my lights are legal or not because I am more inclined to stick their fine up their A-Holes. Dont wanna pay this.

They are not illegal but did you have them aligned properly as that causes problems with dazzling.

Shrouds I can recommend also as my old 6 k ones I never got flashed once

    The coppers talking bollox really

Failure will be at the discretion of the tester. You will find that are a lot of them say 'sold for show use only'. This means they're not road legal.

By law they have to have a self levelling device and headlamp washers. This has always been the case but maybe because of the imminent MOT rules the Police are being proactive. Not a bad thing in my eyes, as I am fed up of being blinded on the road by poorly adjusted, bright lights in cars that obviously didn't have them fitted as standard.

I am tired of getting blinded by X5's with HID's but they are factory fitted so therefore legal

    And this.

MOT rules are here. New MOT rules updated thread!(Updated again!)

Aftermarket Xenon Headlights are probably illegal under construction and Use regulations. No headlight washers fitted or self levelling.

    The laws stupid quite frankly

    Headlight washers and adj wtf?

I went and paid 12 quid and had my hids computer aligned and miles better and no blinding and never flashed once.

Some of the New cars like x5,mercs,audis etc blind me at night sometimes yet legal to do so and mine illegal.

The mot laws in this country are a joke now
