    Hi Guys,
Im having a little trouble with a few headlight Q's.

I know the wiring may be different across the models, but are they all physically interchangeable between coupe/sedan/compact ?

Im looking to de-lense / "stealth mod" / go HID and some better angel eyes but all the guides for de-lensing point to Bosch or ZKW type headlights. My compact has Hella headlights which are not quite the same build.

Question is, can I get some Coupe Bosch headlights and fit them to my compact ?

I know the indicators dont go from Coupe to compact, so im guessing the headlights dont either. If I want bosch lights on my compact - where do I get them from, a sedan ?

    Found this article :

quote "From front bumper to A pillar, the Compact is identical to the BMW 3 Series (E36) sedan, sharing the front fenders, bumpers, lights, windshield, wing mirrors, and the hood"

Can somebody confirm for me before I source a set of Headlights from a Sedan, any pointers on the wiring being different?

The lights themselves fit, but the compact has different bulbs so you would have to rewire them to the saloon/coupe lights....

Thanks Steve, Re-wiring shouldnt be much bother, Im more interested in de-shrouding and having a general mess about.

i know de-lensing will give it a much cleaner and better look but wouldnt it worsen the beam output pattern?
Im pretty sure on the i saw someone on the US bimmerforums do it to their ellipsoid headlights (cant remember which make)and the light had a very narrow pattern and light throw was poor.

@johnthesifu - I've heard similar stories, but then I've also heard its not that bad, and the extra output from HID's should cover any difference, I guess I'll know when people start flashing me lol

Props to Chris at BMConversions, he is a top top man and Im sure Steve will back that up, I've got Saloon Bosch units en-route off of fleabay, 6000K HIDS and black shrouds en-route from Chris and I'll pop the CCFL's i currently have in my Hella's into the new Bosch units.....
I think (and hope) the Bosch lense diameter is smaller than my Compact Hella units which would explain why I was never happy with them sitting within the lense rather than round the outside, here they are in the Hella / Compact units :

Either that or I've got crap size 'rings , no pun !
