I Thought I would create a little thread to show how I sucessfuly fitted two 55W HID Kits I bought both from HIDWORLD as they make top quality products, and have the most powerful HID kits on the market. I chose a 55W 4300K hid kit for my main beams, and a 55W 8000K kit for my dipped beams. The 4300K kit produces a whopping 4800 lumens, and the 8000K kit produces a respectful 3800 lumens Both kits are using Digital Ballasts, and their own independant relays.
I mounted the ballasts underneath the headlamps, there is a good solid platform which they can be mounted on.
I then needed to widen the hole in the headlamp for the main beam bulb. The glass of the HID bulb is wider than a standard H1 bulb. You can see the notches I made at the top and bottom of the hole.
I also needed to drill holes in the headlamp flaps to poke the wires through, this made everything neat and tidy, and waterproof.
As the both the relay harness' were too short to connect to the live and negative of the battery, I had to extend the cables, this wasnt much of a problem, just time consuming. I tried to make everything neat and tidy, but there are an aweful lot of wires. To add the jumble of wires I also have a third relay harness for my LED Halo Rings
And now the end result...
I went for a drive while it was dark, and was astonished at how much light these kits produce, even with the dipped beams the road was light up very well, and with the main beams it was almost like daylight. The road was light up so brightly, and very very far into the distance. I love it soooo much haha!!
All I have to do now is fit the shrouds for the dipped beams which I have ordered and are currently out of stock for +2 weeks. Then I need to get the lamps aligned and its all done
