Hey im picking up my E36 this wednesday and one of the first things i want to do is, make the bonnet like the E46. What I mean is i want the bonnet and the lower air intake section to be as one. I also want to fill the two grill holes so the whole thing is smooth. Whats the best way to do this? and will I have to re locate the bonnet latch?

Any advice would be great thanks everyone!

    You should've bought a veedub

In my opinion, if you want the E46 look then buy one

To answer the question though... The latch does need moving. How good a job you want depends on the best route to choose.

I wouldn't advise you smooth the kidey grills as they serve a purpose. They are not there for looks!

By all means do the bonnet mod if it's really what you want but to get it to look good it will cost you serious bucks.

My mate modified his in a similar way and you may have seen it as it was one of the most popular and most featured cars in the country.

It was linked with Redline magazine and went to all the car shows and was also featured twice in Performance BMW. He went as far as having the E39 5 series angel lights fitted too

Ive seen on m-99.co.uk a complete one piece bonnet for about £180. With the gill holes connected as one to the bonnet. Can anyone verify that it would be a good fit? Or does anyone know anywhere else that sells the same thing? But with a guaranteed fit?

I also saw a carbon verson some where Ill hit up the link when i find it again

I've seen that bonnet, and I will be honest and give my opinion, it looks awful, it makes the e36 it's fitted to look like it's grown a snout

I can't help but say that if you fit really wide wheels that stick out lots then not only will it steer and handle like a pig it will look like one to!

This is more like it http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=e...k3PdorQnFQes-A. and more http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...icial%26sa%3DG

    Well done Ronnie

That second link looks awesome. That really is the route to go... anything else will just look like a bodge.

By the way, I used to see many carbon bonnet's on jap imports when I was working in the ESVA centre and I can honestly say that not a single one fitted properly. Apparantly they warp when they get warm but I honestly don't know if this is true. They do go dull though and unless the car is used for racing and will benefit the weight loss then the money would be far better being spent elsewhere
