would you do a manual or auto? im thinkin auto as i imagine fittin a clutch pedal and servo, fluid bottle etc would be hassel! so e34 525 auto thats the criteria! unless i can find an e28 528i.

You already got a servo and fitting a clutch pedal box is just a bolt on part and not very hard to do.

food for thought, then would have to alter trim around gear selector, is that just cosmetic like a surround? no ill never settle if you open the manual can of worms. auto thats my way forward so e34 525 with different head and cams, induction and exhaust should push 200bhp? would i use an e30 diff? not my 316i one but probably a 325i?

Manuals are more sellable when it's time to get rid, worth more too.

    Just trim around the gear stick, I'd use a E30 (M20) 325i gearbox with a E30 325i sport (3.64 LSD) diff.

Ah i got lost with all the different doners posted lol.
A 325i 885 head, injectors, manifold and management with a chip bolted to the 2.5e bottom end is a used route for a stroker. Or put the crank into a m20b25 with m20b20 rods and the 2.5 pistons with a block skim for a more lairy 2.7

that is the plan, ill be honest i would take the car to my grave bit of a special find and sentimental value as it was born the same year as me, wouldnt find another one like this for this money which is why when the lump comes out i will make everything spanky shiney, polished inlet manifold etc etc will throw some serious dough at it, the e46 is going on saturday and the shopping with start new bumpers all new chrome work thats needed. will have £3,350 to spend.

want to put an engine straight in not over confident in bolting heads to blocks etc and dont wana pay thousands in rebuild costs, would rather search for someone who already done it and buy that lump, ive had cars stripped for months turned into years and lost bits etc want a smooth job thats up and running asap so a straight 525 (e34) or 528 (e28) would rather spend money on other comforts like suspension. not lookin to set the world on fire just have a sweet retro original ish motor with a bit of poke.
