    Hi Guys

I have a 1995 e36 3 series. The bumpers are grey, and appear to be so because the original black bumpers have been painted grey over the top. Was this done in the factory, a bit like the rockers perhaps?

In certain areas there is flaking which shows a deep black plastic underneath.

i would really like all solid black bumpers but wondering how this can be achieved.

Products like AutoGlym bumper care will only make the bumper 'grey' again, but would something like Forever Black (which is a dye) work on this?

if not, would you recommend painting the bumper, or stripping the grey?

    thanks!

sounds like a previous owner has tried colour coding the car.
the grey should be primer i would think.
2nd hand bumpers might be your easiest route.
    what i've felt,what i've known
never shined through in what i've shown.

The early bumper are kind of plastic coated in the grey and its a bloody nightmare to get it off. Even nitro-mors wouldnt touch that grey paint...

I ended up getting second hand painted bumpers and getting them colour coded...
