Has anyone used one of these before? are they effective, and safe to use without scratching paintwork?

I've got one similar to that...tbh, it's pretty cr*p really. Don't be fooled when it says following contours. Also leaves water marks, so I stuck to the good old chamois leather.

I always thought they where good at getting the majority of water off the roof bonnet etc.
I used to work at a main dealers (of a rival German car company!) and the detailing boys there all used em in conjunction with a good ol chamois.
Saves a bit of time really, just make sure the blade is free from grit!
