When I got my BMW they offered me the paintwork protection that was meant to lat for 3 years, so no polishing waxing necessary.

What exactly do they do to do this?

It will be a kind of sealant life supaguard, lifeshine etc, a load of old rubbish IMHO na a waste of money.

Better off spending the money on a proffesional detail.

I had it done on my new BMW in February. It is crap! After a couple of months I did the whole detail thing, clay bar, paint cleaner and wax - it looked fantastic, much better than when it was new! Really - don't bother - it is not worth it. Spend the money on a top quality wax and a clay kit and do it yourself.

I had a "Seal and Protect" done on my car for free when I brought it, don't see what difference it has made but did get a lovely BMW rucksack with a whole load of BMW cleaning gear, polish, wheel brush, cloths....normally sells for £249 which ain't cheal and I certainly wouldn't pay for it!

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys. Could you give me some of the cleaning products that you use as I'm a bit new to this, and as I guess you would only use the best products

My wife had the Autoglym Lifeshine on her Golf. We declined it at the time of purchase and they did it by accident so no charge !

The car is metallic black, 12 months on and it needed attention, so a quick polish.

18 months and out came the clay, polish and wax, and it looks better than ever.

I am glad I never paid for it.
