    have you tried shoe polish?

sounds strange but on my mums honda civic i-vtec I put this around the grey trim on the outside...rubbed it all off and didnt look to bad

down side is you have to re-do every few months

you can remove it and re paint it

there is a guide on here, that some one has done, where they change from chrome to shaddow so that will tell you how to get it off

when you say faded, do you mean oxidised as in looking milky white. if so you may be able to restore the finish with a paint renovator/paint cleaner.

dodo juice lime prime is very good, it is a cleaner/glaze and has mild abrasives. iv'e had some decent mild correction with this.

the shadowline on my Alp started oxidising at the bottom of the rear quarter on both sides so i had them re-sprayed at the same time as the boot was done.
To give you some idea, the boot and shadowline cost me £300 but most of the cost is obviously for the boot lid.
