Can anybody tell me why my 9 year old Ambra Metallic (sort of burnt orange colour) does not really look the same when i have put my BMW touch up pen on some of the stone chips ??? The colour in the pen is a lot darker than the paint it has gone on..... is it down to simply 9 years worth of UV radiation hitting the bodywork ? Ta

    Depends.

Where did you get the pen from and was it colour matched?

Have you tried it with the clearcoat pen on top because if its a metallic colour it'll make a difference. Also theres different shades of the same colour so your best option is to go to a paint shop and get them to colour match you a pot (around £10 for 250ml) and it'll be spot on plus you'll have loads left over if you ever need any panels painting

I will do that, i guess that after close to a decade of UV it must alter the colour of the original paint when i came from the factory. Cheers

Not really, a quick polish brings the colour up. I suspect the pen provided by BMW is for the most popular shade of orange..
