    Dear all,

Now i'm the proud owner of an E46 325 ci rag top i'm keen to keep it looking as damn gorgeous as when i brought it!

Has anyone got a good suggestion for cleaning the hood? So far i've just been washing as normal i.e. Simonez car shampoo and a good rinse and chamois off afterwards, but i think it should also be conditioned!?! but not sure with what.

    Any advice appreciated

    Russ

hi mate, your right if you have a fabric hood then the best thing you can do is properly clean it and keep it protected. autoglym do a procuct which is a two pack method, a bottle of cleaner and a brush and then a conditioner and sealer all in one, iv never used it but reading the description it seems easy enough this is the stuff. Though a few guys i know on CYC have recomendded the following

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine.../prod_173.html

    hope this helps

(edit) p.s. you might find using a quality shampoo from a proffesional valet site like above and ditching the chamois for a waffel weave or microfbre towel will produce better results!

Dont use shampoo on the soft top it will make it go mouldy. Just steam clean it.

I've used the Autoglym products and they do work and are simple to use although a bit expensive. Good products.

I have just cleaned mine using autoglym (last week). It states not to steam clean to remove soap (1st bottle), assume this will impregnate the roof with water/soap. The second bottle conditioner is best left over night after application to dry. Now dried and has since has rained (as this country does!) the water is repelled as the waxed bodywork (lots of bobbles!)!

Definatley worth doing in my opinion!

I purchased the autoglym from halfords a few weeks ago and i must admit it was very good. It came in a twin pack and the cleaner was a piece of cake to apply, once the roof was dry the protector went on easily. Now the water just beads off the roof. Fantastic product and highly recommended. It cost me £23 for a twin pack.
