How many times did you pass over ?

The Megs 'stage' polishes use an abrasive that lessens as you use it so that it eventually loses any abrasive quality. I have seen it used on a very swirly E46 bonnet and they came out a treat.

    ^ What Mark has said.

I use G6 if its a small area to clean up and then g3 the whole panel with an orbital machine and white compounding head (head needs to match the polish/compound your using ie not too soft or too hard). Few squirts of water, work the machine in starting at min speed then 1,2,3 and then 3,2,1,min and stop. change heads and apply G-A polish (comes in a metal 1litre tin from my cousins body shop ) and then finally a hand glaze (3m) and two coats of wax.

You could machine in a couple coats of SRP to fill scratched or poorboys black hole which is a glaze but has fillers to hide scracthes.

tried the megs 3 stage and found it to be hard work and stages 1+2 not very good but stage 3 was excellent now i use autoglym super resin then meg stage 3 over the top works a treat ps my car is mettallic but pimmsoclock did his at the same time (non mettallic ) and the megs although hard work worked really well all 3 stages so i think it depends on your paint type hope this helps

and was all done by hand

I wouldn't use T-cut persoanlly. Its a long winded job if you do as it dulls the paint down somewhat. Go over again ad move the machine slowly with abit of downward pressure so you give it a chance to heat the paint up. Are you sure your not getting holograms? what colour is your car?

I wouldn't use a polish to remove swirls. if you want you can use DA cleaner polish (megs) and that should cut good.

But before you go out and buy more products just use what you've got and go over again nice and slowly. Black cars are really hard to do so good luck
