    Hi,

Does anyone know, or have a guide on how to make the folding top on the convertible E36 properly fold away in the hood storage bin.

I am having a small problem with mine.....

When I open the hood, all goes fine, but the hood storage compartment lid will not close, unless I get out of the car and assist the hood by tucking it into the storage bin, then it will close properly.

Now I can carry on doing this, but I thought there must be a way to make the hood's fold away properly.

Sounds like the linkage might need some adjustments? TBH , if it aint broken dont fix it! mine too has the same prob but only sometimes..so it doesnt bother me too much. There is a guide on pelicans:

    http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...onvertible.htm

progress at your own risk matey, wrongly adjusting things could cause rods to bend and damage

I found the problem, it was the 'wire' (at least that is what realoem.com call it)

It's more like a metal rod that slides along the hood that bends when the hood sinks into the storage bin and pulls the inner lining around the rear seat side of the storage bin.

    It had become dislodged - all sorted............cheap repair - cost = 0

I've always liked BMW's for that reason.
