Has anyone had just the tips on the exhaust changed?
The stock ones are 3" and I fancied getting some that are 3.5" or possibly 4".

I don't really want to change the exhaust note drastically, purely for aesthetics.
I also don't want to spend a fortune on the exhaust as I am generally happy with it, jus want something slightly Beefier lookin.

Anyone got any recommendations from where to get the tips from? It seems a mod done over in America a whole lot more than here, any reason for this?

    Thanks

4" is the way to go, they fill the gaps beautifully, leaves about 5mm between them and the bodywork

Cheers I'll ring a few places.
The 4" makes it look like it has definitely been changed, I was trying 2 be a bit more subtle so the insurance company won't have to be told. The 4" is my preference however...

I've found a local company who do powerflow exhausts so will pay them a visit soon to see what they will do.

After having a look on the powerflow site, there are several different types of tips, resonated, rolled, angled, burnt tip and then combinations of the four.

After research it seems all of them will have a slight affect to the exit sound. I am happy with the sound at the minute but can live with something slightly louder, deeper. What I would like to avoid is a loud roar when on long journeys which will do my head in. Anyone know which is the best exhaust tip for that?

    Cheers

Just an update on this, I had the tips done, went for 4"

Also got my M3 lip spoiler on and a pic of the LED H8's on a brighter day.
Still looking for something brighter for the outer rings.

Yeah mate, I went for an angled tip which makes it sound a little bit deeper. I had been listening out for the sound all week with the window open before I had it done so I could check if it made a difference, it definately did!

The exhaust place also got the tips sitting more flush with the bumper (the tips use to stick out about 35 - 45mm as it seems the exhaust was set up for the SE bumper and the Msport one curves in at the bottom) so the whole fitting is much better.

The car should have came like this, I'm glad I did go for the 4" ones as it does sit bang on with the bumper.

Can you give me some details? Where you got them, make, cost etc.

Definitely going to be my next mod.

    Cheers
