    Hi guys,

I have some pretty substantial swirl marks on my car, they show up fairly clearly under strong sunlight.

Is there anyone in Bristol that is recommended on this site that could sort this out?

To what extent could I expect a machine polish to sort this out or am I just as well off saving the money and springing for a respray eventually?

Heading to the Nurburgring in March so want to make sure that the car is looking superfly...

    Thanks,

    Hugh

Without seeing the car it is difficult to say, but I would say that a good detailer would get swirl marks out. I got all mine out with a machine polisher, and that is a fraction of the miracles these guys work out of the paint.

Have a look on Detailing World if you are in any doubt, or speak to Mark at autobritedirect, our forum vendor

If your good with a mop and g3 you can get rid of these no problem then machine polish after, when i got this bm it was really bad so i flat the whole car with 1500 wet+dry sand paper then mopd it with g3 then polished it and the paintwork was first class it even had them hedge scratchs down the side that ya get wen goin down lanes but they come out aswell, its hard work and takes awhole day.

as long as the swirl marks are not too deep, i would expect you to be able to remove them all with a machine polisher

If you take your time and go pannel by pannel you will get them all out,

Well in theory I could buy and machine polisher and all the gear for the price I would be paying a detailer which would mean that I would be able to do it for free whenever necessary afterwards.

Just a bit wary about going near the paint, knowing me I'd muck it up and need to get a full respray afterwards...

    Thanks guys.

    Guys,

Were you talking about a rotary or dual action machine polisher?

Isn't there the capacity to do some major damage with a rotary, but the results can be a lot better?...

Thats why i bought mine, you would be looking at over £300 for a detail to remove swirls, so i bought a machine polisher and the polishs for a lot less,

Ive done quite a few cars with mine now, mine, girlfriends mini cooper, my mates MR2, mate at works E90 and zafira

People keep giving you money for doing lol

Yes there are two types, DA and rotary
As you say you can do damge with a rotary but if you hold it in one spot

DA is much safe, its use an oscilating motion so even if you hold it in the same place it wont burn through paint as quick as a rotary

I have a DA and am very pleased with it, the main reason i bought the DA was cos i was scared of the rotary lol I would get a rotary next now ive built up my confidenece with the DA

but tbh the work i have done with the DA has come out brillent, removed all the swirls from the paint work

If you get a DA, watch out for the ones with slower less powerful motors if you get one with a more powerful motor it will match up to a rotary better

i got the DAS-6 pro in the end
