After picking the car from Coopers of Norwich on Tuesday, I decided to detail it yesterday while the weather was good. All in all took 9 and a half hours but was well worth it
The hubs and calipers need respraying, and that will be done at some point over summer hopefully.
Here's a few before pics.
First the engine bay. All the electrical connections were covered up with cling film and then was pressure washed from a distance with the Nilfisk C110. Meguiars Super Degreaser was sprayed & agitated using a Swissvax detail brush, then left for 5 mins. This was then pressure washed off from a distance and pat dried with a Chemical Guys Miracle Dryer, the cling film was also removed. The engine was started and left running for 10 mins to dry any last bits off. Finally it was treated to Swissvax Motor Shine.
The wheels/tyre's/arches were next.
Firstly given a rinse, then Meguiars Super Degreaser was applied to the tyre's and arches, then agitaed with a Vikan brush. The wheels were sprayed with Espuma Revolution mixed 1:4 with water and worked in with a Swissvax detail brush & Vikan long reach brush.
Next, all panel gaps and door shuts were cleaned with APC 4:1 and a detail brush before the car was snowfoamed with Auto Rae-chem Snow wax, left to dwell for 5 mins then rinsed. The car was washed using Wolfgang Auto bathe, Lambswool washmitt and the 2BM. This was rinsed off and followed up with a 1 hour claying session using Bilt Hamber Autoclay Regular to remove most contaminents. Tardis was used to remove any tar spots.
After a final snow foam, the car was dried and masked up ready for machine polishing. I used the combo of a 3M blue pad and Meg's #205 with the CYC Rotary polisher to bring some gloss back to the paint and remove any marring/light swirls.
I followed this up with Clearkote Red Moose Glaze on an Elite care care finishing pad with the DAS6 DA.
The finishing details are as follows:
- Tyres dressed with Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel
- Wheels protected with Opti-seal
- Glass cleaned with AG Glass Polish
- Plastics treated to GTechniq C4
- Exhaust cleaned up with Autosol and 0000 grade Wire wool
- Door shuts treated to Werkstat Prime
- Bodywork waxed with Victoria Concours
- Final wipe down with Duragloss 951
