    Hi guys,

I've just had the bumper off and fitted new headlamp washers and hoses.

When the lights are on and I activate the washers, screen washers work fine, headlamp washer motor activates for about a second then off then on for another second. Nothing comes out though!! I'm assuming its because there needs to be pressure in those hoses and maybe theres a function to put it in to 'test mode' or something to get the motor to run for longer to fill the pipes.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Cheers

    Ian

If it's lost a lot of fluid, and only jets out a small amount each time, you'll probably need to stick them on a good few times to fill the tubes.

I'd keep on pulling at that stalk. There might be an activation procedure, but only through BMW diagnostics.

This should be in Auto Electrical - also, you need to start correctly titling your threads.

Sorry, I'm new. Can you move the post for me?

What did I do wrong with the title?

    No worries Ian.

If you see the Posting Rules link below my signature, you'll see the layout.

In this thread's case, it would be 2006 E86 Z4 3.0 - New headlamp washers and hoses, help needed

There's also a link below called "How to correct thread titles" which shows you how to do this.

If you could do it for this thread and your other thread in this section, regarding the UnderBonnet, and from now on, then it would be greatly appreciated and will make it easier for people to help you and for other members to search for similar queries

I'll correct the thread title of your other thread regarding the aux fan for you

Looks like may be the same power connector on both screen washer pump and h/lamp washer pump. Perhaps could try running the h/lamp pump by temporarily connecting the screen washer's power plug to it to try and prime the hoses.

Cheers. Apparantly the way to do it is to disconnect the screen washer pump and just keep running the lamp washer. Takes 5 to 10 mins apparantly. Makes sense!!

Also, the washer bottle warning light on the dash hasnt gone out. Any idea why that would be?

    Cheers
