Detailers sometimes use a Dremel with a polishing bit

Some of the detailers will use an extremely fine grade of wire wool and lubricate with WD40 whilst using it to prevent scratching. Using a metal polish such as Autosol and elbow grease worked on my OEM exhaust tips.
