Guys I was washing my car and I noticed that both of my front fog lights are completely steamed up. See below
    O/S

    N/S

I know the weathers been really cold with freezing fog but I'm wondering why this has happened and if the moisture in the unit will be corroding bits.

Does anybody know why this happens and does anybody have instructions as to how to split the lamps so I can dry them out and any suggestions as to how to stop it happening again??
    Thanks

Can anybody assist and tell me how to remove the fog lights to dry them out??

Is it a case of popping a clip(somehow) from the rear or unscrewing somewhere?

    Thanks

OK I had a pull at the surrounds and after they came off undone the 8mm bolt and they came out. Unfortunately I found the cause of the moisture the rears on both are corroded and bubbled!

Is this a common occurrence for the fog lights to go this way? They were that bad I couldn't even remove the bulbs they were corroded in place.

Top recommendations for replacement fog light units?? eBay??
I had a look and found some with sort of frosted lined lenses (like my oe ones) and some which are clear- is there a difference??
    Thanks

I would say it is quite common a both myself and my mates '03 M3 have condensation in at least one of our spotlights.
They dry out to some degree in the warmer weather tho, not sure exactly what the difference is between the ribbed and clear lenses
Unless you buy a brand new unit, rather than 2nd hand, sooner or later you'll be in the same boat,
would drying yours out & painting the rear casings with a waterproof paint be an option?
If you fancy a change what about the projector type of fogs ...

Thanks for that. Mine have had condensation in since just after I got the car. Always meant to get round to looking at it but a few project motorbikes took most of my time!

My car is a 2006 so about 5 years old so if I manage to buy a new or immaculate 2nd hand set if they last that long I would be happy. Now that I am aware of the problem I could keep my eye on them and cover the rears on something to protect them.

I think I'd rather stick with the oe look so I'll probably stick with the lined lenses rather than clear but it'll come down to what ones are available at the time I decide to buy. I sat them on the radiator and one is still fine the other fogged up again last night as it was pretty cold :-( not really surprising as I couldn't remove the bulb to vent the moisture out of the unit!

ebay's probably going to be your best bet then as they're listed @£100 each from $tealers , so clear lenses are aftermarket?
