I have recently purchased my first BMW from the local dealer. Its a 330i 4 door saloon. I have noticed that the elbow shaped chrome trim round the rear windows have numerous white marks on them. I tried to clean this off with every cleaning agent I could think off with no success. Its like this contamination is embedded in the chrome. In deperation I took the car back to the dealer and asked then to try to clean it off. They could not do it either? I complained this defect should have been spotted on their 120 point check but they are having none of it. Stating trim is not included in the warranty? So I asked them to quote me on replacing the parts. To my horror they quoted me over £300.

Does anyone know where I can get these parts cheap and whats involved in removal and fitting. I have looked on the web but cannot find the specific parts I require. Please help!

It is quite possible that it is conamination caused by (TFR) traffic film remover that the dealership have used when they preped the car ready for sale, it is a common problem on BMW's and Audi's. It can be a right pain to remove as metal polishes dont usually touch the contamination. Audi A4 cabs suffer from this on the brushed metal finish surround on the front window screen, again metal polishes cant usually restore the finish, but I have managed to find a solution by carefully machine polishing the affected area.

As said in your email I would be more than happy to take a look for you but just noticed you are a tad to far away lol.
