wether its deformed outwards or inwards a good bodyshop will be able to remove the bumber, heat the plastic to reshape as close as possible then prep and paint it.

the worst thing about it is its silver and could be hard to match up

    Feel your pain.

If it's any consolation, I've done the exact same in my 29 year driving career. Wasn't a BMW right enough, but still bloody annoying.

What's your insurance excess - even if it's £150 might be worth claiming and getting a new bumper out of it.

Hey all, well after a long time coming I finally got her repaired.

The work is fantastic, couldn't be more happy, especially since he told it has already been hit at both sides and repaired badly. So now my arse is looking good lol - you wanna see pics eh eh???

Problem is I did not realise "half" of my rear PDC is not working, before it went in to the bodyshop all 4 rear PDC sensors worked effortlessly. Only the 2 driver's side sensors are working now.

Thing is, when I queried the bodyshop, they said they told me they never took the bumper off the car - how on earth that works someone please tell me..... They offered to have a look underneath for me to see if anything has popped loose. Why one earth would it work with a damaged bumper and not a repaired bumper?

I don't think it is oversprayed otherwise I would have constant beep from one of the sensors wouldn't I....?

Any ideas or advice on what to check before I send my dad down to the shop - I can't get time off work.... possible faulty module? possible broken wire??

    Cheers all! Red

Were they working before the impact? By the looks of the damage it really should have beeped, and if it didn't then there might be a temperamental problem.

If the bumper was still sitting correctly then all they would have done was sand off all the cracked paint and re-sprayed the whole thing, they could have done that without removing the bumper.

Oh and bad luck :( I did this in my e34. Backed it straight into one of those 2 foot tall bollards that you can't see :|. Luckily there was no damage, god bless old school rub strips lol

Hi mate, ta much for the reply. They "where" working on and off before the damage. It was like the cold weather was affecting them (but not iced over). They were tempremental at the time but seemed to have sorted themselves out (seemed to always work!) until she want into bodyshop!

    Hmm....

Just a thought, if they painted the bumper on the car they want it out of the bodyshop asap so they'd use IR heaters. Not sure if it could damage the sensors but its a way with electrical things, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't

Just keep an eye out on ebay, if your not in a rush you can get a bargain.
