Hey guys, well it is not that bad but I am crap annoyed with myself for doing it.

I'll spare you the whole story but realised I am relying on the old parking sensors too much and thankfully it was a lamppost I reversed into and not something else.... And the parking sensor never even went off!

Before I go out and ask for a quote tomorrow I thought I would clean up the old girl (way too much crap!). I was wondering if someone could give me a guesstimate of how much a repair may cost to the rear bumper...

Not too serious but again I am so annoyed with myself :(

    Any help gratefully recieved! Red.

That can be repaired easily. Does it still line up properly?

I'd take a guess at a decent bodyshop charging you around £100 to paint plus paints and materials ~ £140ish Depending on the colour match they may get away with just blowing it in.

Or you could try one of them guys from the yellow pages that come to you? prices start from £60 iirc but personally i'd pay good money to get that bumper looking right, its a top car

I'm sorry to hear about this red...I'm sure a bodyshop could sort this out? Has the bumper allignment been affected in any way (i.e. where it meets the rear quarter, the bootlid area and rear lights)?

thanks Lad it doesn;t seem out of alignment but I did not look particularly hard at the boot shut etc - more just stared in shock at the mess lol. Nothing looked out of place when I was washing the car today...

I have at least one bodyshop tomorrow (used to fix my wifes car) to visit, I will source some others and keep you posted.

    Cheers! Red.

I think my rear bumper has been in a similiar bump like yours. I still havn't got round to sorting it ever since I bought the car. This is because it is very difficult to notice it, you can only see it clearly in certain light hence why I aint in a rush to get it sorted. Mine is more like a lump, I posted a thread on here a few months ago about it. I might have to replace the full bumper as I've been told by a few people that bodyshops may be unable to reshape the plastic as its going outwards rather than inwards.

I hope you won't have the same issue as me! The best way to check if the bumper is slightly out of shape is to compare the point where the bumper meets the rear quarter panel. On the 5 series, the bumper is really flush and smooth. If you compare either side of the car and there is a difference (a slight bump), this was caused by the impact. I really doubt its been that badly damaged though...How hard did you hit it?

The pictures are shown below for comparison:
