How long do you reckon to clay an X5? I've just got into it - got some nice results so far but seem to be making very slow progress. How long, say, to clay the bonnet ? How long do you keep claying a panel for ?
    Thanks

That's like saying how long is a piece of string. Really depends on how contaminated your panels are. Can take between 5mins or 10mins etc. I would stop when the surface is glass like

Yes Sorry I suppose it is like a piece of string - but if we are talking 'average' for a whole car ? A couple of hours ? i spent about 20 mins on about a fifth of the bonnet yesterday to get it to what I thought was about right. I dont mind spending a long time if then subsequently its more of a mainteneance process. Should i use more pressure perhaps (yes I know you dont know how much pressure I was using !)

    Thanks Smee

You don't want to be pressing on with the clay mate, because then it could cause marring. Just a light to modderate preasure is needed!

What are you using to lube the clay? And what clay are you using?
If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!

I thought you wiped over the surface until the clay bar ran smoothly across it. Should only take a few swipes across until it runs smooth. Takes about 30-40 mins to do my 323i.
