    Hi all

Not a happy chappy after a visit to the hairdressers today, some idiot needlessly boxed me in (parking) and in my attempt another idiot (Me!!) grazed against a small concrete post i hadnt seen and did the following damage (see attachment to my front end)

Anybody have any guideline or an estimate of how much it will cos to repair and get back to as good as new. Paintwork is BMW standard Titanium Silver Metallic.

Never had to get anything like this doen before, so have no idea what is a reasonable price! To be honest, Im not sure how serious it is.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

The difficulty is blending metallic titanium silver-More than likely need to spray the whole bumper

To paint the whole bumper will cost approximately £200, thats what we got quoted anyway... What about a smart repair, Chips away etc? Would be cheaper, not sure if the work is guaranteed..

Mate, I had the same thing happen to me in my 2006 e46 m sport convert - the paint was chipped all the way down to the black plastic, same as yours - I went to chips away and they quoted me £130 but I know someone from a local paint garage and he charged me £115 to respray the bumper and i CANNOT TELL ANY difference, the match was perfect which can be tricky with silver

Just try and get it resprayed pal!

I've sent the pic of the damage to a few bodyshop / respraying places in East Mids, so hopefully, they can give me a good quote next week.

I was actually hoping I could avoid a whole respray of the bumper, and that the isolated small area could be touched up n repaired instead to save cost but not sure that's an option.

Thanks for the replies folks.... if anyone knows of good places in East Midlands who would repair this please let me know.

    Ta

    Dan.

My mate charges me a hundred quid for spraying a bumper and I KNOW that's a good price.

I would be thinking more along the lines of 200 quid for silver as it is a sprayers worst nightmare

    Latest update:
Had a quote froma recommended place for £180-£200 for a full bumper respray.

Then today, at work there was a mobile repair/re-spray unit, doing work on a company car in the next office. I went had a word, and he said he charged £70 an hour ( admitted it was expensive but what company charges for insurance jobs) whilst he worked for this company Mon to Fri. But then on the side he did some cash in hand work using the same respray/repair equipment at weekends, took a look at the damage and said he could get it as good as new (heard that before lol) by just concentrating on the damaged area only and matching my paint colour from my chassis number for £90 & would take 3 hrs!

What do people think? Too good to be true? Worth a go at half the money??? Or better sticking to recommended places???

Any advice much appreciated ta. Very new to accident repair n re-spraying

Get it done properly mate by a reputable body shop... as A20 said silver is a sprayers worst nightmare!.. My old Titanium Silver BM had to go back to the bodyshop three times to get the match right... one was a smart repair and it looked terrible, then i went to an authorised porsche sprayer and still it wasnt perfect and in the end went to BMW... cost a fortune in the end!
