you can go as dark as you want on the rear windows, your not legally allowed anything on the front driver and passenger windows as the glass is factory tinted as standard, i tinted my own windows last week leaving the fronts as standard, and got pulled by a traffic car the same night, he was adamant the front windows were tinted as they looked dark because the rest of the car was dark, it wasnt until he ran a key down the inside of the window that he realised they werent. However alot of people do have the fronts tinted, it all depends on what the police are like in your area, but my thoughts are that i wouldnt want to pay to have my windows tinted only to get pulled and have to peel them off at the roadside and possibly get a fine.

my advice is to just get the backs done normally a medium tint will give you a nice darkness without making you look like some sort of drug dealer or chav.

tint guys will tell you not to use your windows for 24-48 hours either to let the glue cure and if you dont need to try not to drive at night on the day you get them done as the solution they use will make headlights and streetlights all hazy.

have you got any quotes for the tints yet?

im also looking into this, i havnt got pulled in my area for my plate - which im advised is "illegal" cus ive moved the spacing, however untill im pulled (or going for an MOT) i'm not going to change this (however i do have the legal ones in my boot... i wont tell the copper that as then he'll know i know it's illegal lol..

ps my plate is as my sig is (without the line of text at the bottom)

    Cheers, Tom

LOL thats true! I think limo tint does look good on some black cars! But I will def go for a medium tint.

Bonse: I reckon it all depends on the area you live in and what the police are like, I see quite a few drivers who have what could be deemed as 'illegal' plates.

I havent rang OG tinting yet but a friend of mine paid around £150 for limo black on 4 windows plus rear on his seat ibiza.

So I cant imagine it being more than that for 3 windows on a BMW.

What is the going price for tints these days anyways?

Yeah I believe you can tint your front windows but only to a small level.

My rears are tinted, they were on the car when i got it, i personally think they are too dark. I cant read number plates in my rear view mirror or see if a hot woman is driving the car! And parking is harder too especially in under ground car parks with no natural light.

They are not limo black, but are a couple of shades darker than what id want if i were getting it done myself. I think i dont like it as the darker the rears are the bigger the noticable difference between the front and the back.

Most people seem to say they like the tints on my car, but im not fully convienced. But getting them removed and new ones on is well down on my list of things to do, so they are staying on a while longer!

Thats one thing which Im slightly concerned with..I want tints because I think they will make the car look ever better, but I bet they will be a pain when I need to see out of my my rears, ie when parking!

Yeah thats why If I thought I could get away with it I would have the same tint all round. I dont like their being a big different between the front and back windows.

As promised here are the pics of my newly tinted car

These pics were taken yesterday about an hour after fitting.

Im very very happy. I decided to go for 35%. May get the fronts tinted in the future...but I will have a good think about it first.

Let me know what you think of the tints?

    Cheers
