Apologies if this is is the wrong place, I wasn't sure to put this in here or the 'General BMW' section

I have recently sold some mats on eBay that came from my dad's E46. The mats were offered to him by the salesman when he purchased the car so we assumed they were genuine items and advertised them as such.

I've just had an email from the gent that bought them saying they aren't genuine as they don't have the holes for the little studs in the floor. The thing is my dad's car doesn't have these studs, he was given a large screw with velcro type backing to hold them to the floor.

Did BMW do a different mat design when they face lifted the E46 at all?

ive got a facelift e46 330ci mate...and as far as i know bmw didnt supply mats with them..i have the holes in the floor for them..then i puchased genuine mats from bmw and they did not have the push fit plugs or holes for them...as you say..had velcro on the back...i then purchased aftermarket mats which did have the plugs!!...even some genuine mats do not have holes mate

Thanks very much for that mate.

I did try to look on RealOEM for pictures but wasn't having much luck haha.
Just out of interest, do they come with any labels on the mats themselves with a part number?

I bought genuine mats for my E46 that had holes in and came with the correct fixings, these being small plastic "bolts" that slot in to the floor through the carpet and are turned through 90 degrees to secure in place. All four mats have the same fixings.

Curiously the E90 I'm currently driving while my E46 is in for repair has mats with the velcro screws so has BMW changed the design at some point?
    To do: Far too much.....

Me: 04 E46 320d Sport in Titan Silver

The Mrs: 59 E92 320d Sport in Space Grey....now replaced by a 61 plate Z4 2.0L S-drive M-Sport in Deep Sea Blue with beige leather

    I'm just a lottery win away from that 335i.........and a Series 3 Discovery..........and an old Mini.........and an E30 325i........
