    I have a 2003 Titan Silver which has various rust spots around the car. While treating a rust patch above the rear bumper (I suspect that something was dropped on the car and the paint chipped) I can inderstand rust in this instance but have a look at the following pics;

    Below the drivers door;

    Then we have the following which I discovered after I removed the boot rubber;

    I also had a patch under the rear drivers sill kick plate;

    These cars are meant to be galvanised but the rust is far worse then a 1998 Peugeot 306 I previoulsly owned.

    E46's are crap for rust I know of 3 other cars of similar age all with rust, red, black and silver.

    Were E36's as bad? I am rubbing down to bear metal, Loctite rust treatment, prime and paint. Matching Titan silver with rattle cans is sssoooo easy!! NOT

    Check the edges of the front wings and the wheel arches, whilst the front wings are worse on Coupe's I have seen a couple of saloons that have rust where the plastic arch liner rubs through the paint on the edges.

    It is true that E46 are not the best rust prevention, but I believe that the E36 is worse!!!

    Without a doubt, removing road grime and salt will help

    Have you managed to successfully treat any of the rust and spray to a good standard? It is crap that our cars paintwork is inferior to french cars that were half the price

    Good, at least you have gone over the rusted areas to stop the rust getting worse.

    I would clean the car fully and use Waxoyl on the rusted areas. To be honest if you apply a thick coat of wax on these areas it should protect them.

    All the best,

    Most of the rust has come through again or should I say the paint is bubbling. Spraying with rattle cans is near on impossible to get the right colour match and texture but I'm fcuked if I'm spending out again on the shed. Nearly £7000 for a 1999 323i in the last year including buying the shed. My next car is going to be a BMW though.

    I just noticed a rust spot on my 2003 e46's wheel arch :(

    I'm not one for scrubbing down and re-painting and stuff, reckon I'll give it a going over with something like kerrust and then just touch it up and keep it clean and waxed.

    Same thing with my E46 saloon (Titan Silver), bubbly rust patch under the rear door sill protector when I lifted it up. The front wing on the passenger side also has a fair amount of rust on the lip / edge. There is also a spot just below the boot lid where water must have gathered. Ive cleaned and waxed the car regularly but its about time to address the rust problems, any particular rust beaters or protectors that anyone can recomend?
