    Hi,

I'm currently looking to buy a Metallic Black M3. The car is in excellent condition except the previous owner(s) have obviously taken it through the car wash a few times and you can see the brush marks.

On my previous cars I've used t-Cut colour Magic (matched to the car colour) but this metallic black seems to have a slight blue in it when close up??

Can anybody recommend a good product/method for removing these brush marks please?

    Thanks

swirls/holograms caused by auto car washes will require machine polishing to rectify.

If your talking about spending a large amount of money on a car like an M3 then budget an extra few hundred quid to have it professionally detailed including 2 stage machine polish to get the paint upto scratch..

You can do it yourself with a rotary polisher, pads and compound which will total about £100-150 but you'll never get upto scratch of the pro's..

May be worth getting a quote from Autobrite (forum vendor).. their work looks amazing, not sure how pricey they are though.

I know 2 professional detailers around by me who charge between £275-350 for a full detail though to give a rough idea...

As above, the car sounds like it needs machine polishing to correct the "damage" caused by washing this way...

For DIY repair ideas, have a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk, or have a look at some of the products that Mark@autobrite supplies, some of them are excellent at either correcting them completely or if they are too bad just masking them.

For a professional finish, have a word with Mark, the work that he and his team carry out is excellent and prices reasonable...

Ditto the above, forget the colour magic stuff, you need a pro with a rotary polisher and some decent cutting compounds to remove a few microns of clearcoat and get rid of the swirls for good, anything else is just covering them up with a filler which eventually will fade.

    yes you could,

with a bit of practise and trial and error, and you will get the pad/polish combo right

but expect it to take two days to do the whole car,

this is what i would recommend,

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish.../prod_221.html

    then finsihed with:

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish.../prod_224.html

as for pads, i quite like the chemical guys hex logic at the moment
