You may laugh, but someone told me to try "smooth peanut butter" on plastic. put it on sparingly and then buff it off.

Not tried it myself but he swore by it???????

Personally, I use Megs Engine Bay Dressing spray - brilliant.

Saw that as well on another forum, something to do with the oil in the peanut butter.

I use Top Kote Tire Dressing, spray on & let it dry, I 'gunked' my engine & surronding area, let it dry off and sprayed the tire dresser on and it does last a long time !!

Peanut butter actually works surprisingly well on exterior trims, I tried it when someone told me about it just to prove them wrong, and quite surprisingly ended up with about the best longest lasting black trims I've ever seen.

(Note - do not apply when dogs are in the vicinity, as otherwise you may end up with black trim shiny from dog slobber rather than peanut butter. Yes, that's a note from experience! )

Don't think I'd use it under the bonnet where things get warm though, as the smell could be quite interesting.

Clear waxoyl works really well while cleaning the plastic. Looks factory new once finished.

Clean under bonnet black trim with t-cut first then use one of the above stuff to buff up and polish.
