Hello people! I've always wanted to fit a shark fin onto my E46 coupe and I just want to know which one I should go for? I could either get the E46 replica shark fin which will be a very good quality one, or an E90 genuine shark fin from BMW.

The pictures of each fin are attached below (the silver one is for the E46 and the black one is for the E90)

If anybody has an E46 coupe with a factory fitted shark fin (fitted with the bluetooth phone kit), could they please show me a close up picture of it? I would like to know exactly where to fit it on the roof. If I get a body sop to do it for me, how much do you think they'll charge for fitting?

I have included a poll for your opinions.

    Thanks guy

I've seen an E90 shark fin on an E46 and tbh, it looked really cr*p on it . Stick with E46 if you really want to fit one.

Im confused...you cant get genuine E46 shark fins unless you get the actual antenna and drill a hole in your roof. BMW only sell the casing for the E90 antenna not for the E46. Where did you get it from?

It was a genuine one with the wiring still attached... i simply removed the wire (cut it off!) .... i had to replace the sticky pad but that was it... i found it on ebay... a guy was selling it because he needed to replace his (think his had a faulty connection or something!

Def get a genuine on mate and remove the wire... i found out after they are not that expensive from BMW

Damn...I've already placed an order now. Ive read plenty of reviews on the fin I bought on a lot of forums and they all had good things to say about the quality. Its virtually identicle to the genuine one you bought. I hope it does turn out how I expected it to be!!

    Thanks for the advice though!
