    hi im wondering if anyone know how to shorten the gear stick on a e46 compact? ?
    IT'S NOT THE CAR , ITS THE DRIVER !

    get a Z4 short shifter and associated parts.

    if you look for a thread made by "vauxfan" it'll give you the necessary parts and I think a "how to"..

    Lowered 50/40 on Weitec springs
    18" staggered BBS RS-GTs

    Pioneer MVH-8200
    Focal Polyglass 5.25" 130VB components
    Alpine MRP-M650 Monoblock with Alpine Type R 10"

    ive just looked im not realy bothered about a quicker shift im looking to lower the knob with a after market knob .

    could i not cut the existing stick down and fitting a smaller knob ????

    you can on an e36 charleynokia has done it but not heard of anyone on an e46 but I'm sure they are the same part

    you can get a genuine shortened gearknob which is weighted..

    there's one in my car as standard, much better than the horrible normal one I had in my last BM!

    Normally there's a few floating around on ebay but can't find anything at the moment!
