Hey guys... Just thought I'd pick your brains with this one.....
I've got a 2003 E46 Facelift.
So far its completely rust free ... I'd like to keep it that way!
Every time I wash the car I always make sure I clean the lips of the wings around the wheel arches.
The rear wheel arches are my main concern.... They have a sort of shelf on them for dirt to collect in. Its kinda hard to explain but I'm sure you know what I'm on about.... its like a lip of about 2cm right the way around. Once a week I rinse this lip/recess out with the hose and give my fingers a good rub around them to make sure all the dirt is out.
The winter months are coming though and the thought of salt collecting in this recess is concerning me somewhat as I cant own a car that has any rust on it!
So, I'm planning on buying a tin of Waxoyl and applying it to the inside of this recess with an old rag as its completely hidden from view..... the only way to be able to see in it would be remove the rear wheel and stick ur head in the wheel arch with a torch.
Thoughts on this please guys?
Will the Waxoyl attract dirt? Will I be able to layer it, say give it two or 3 coats?
Or are there any other things that would suit this application better?
Like I say the car is completely free of rust.... both sides of the recess on the rear arches is lovely and smooth.... cant feel any rough patches or anything, and all the cars paint is original. I just want to protect it the best I can
