Hello people...Just wondering if somebody could help? I have the coupe mirrors with the black mirror surround and body coloured back. The black part of it has decoloured and looks more whitish-grey rather than black. Is there any way I could make it look black again? Thanks!

If they've bleached in the sun the only way of getting the colour back would be a respray. I would have a look around to buy some new wing mirror covers - I think they go for around £45-50 for the pair. For this price not really worth attempting to spray them yourself.

You do realise he is talking about the mirror trim itself and not the cover .
Try bumper trim restorer like Simoniz Back to Black.

I just went out to sort it out...I used Simoniz Back to Black my dad had in his boot! The trim is now black with grey patches...think it needs another coat. I shall do another coat tomorrow when I get a chance. Thanks for the advice guys, I shall let you know the results!!

Why do companies use this type of trim? doesnt make sense! Why cant they be normal and use something that wont fade...the whole car is silver with no black trim anywhere, and they decide to use black trim just on the mirror which is a pain in the arse! Oh well...rant over

    Poorboys World - Trim Restorer

I got a bottle a few weeks back for my door handles and bump strips, very pleased with the results and how it lasts.

Its like the others though, you need a couple of applications to get it nice and black again.

Unfortunatley if the plastic has been damage by the sun or a strong chemical has been used on the painted side of the mirror to remove bugs etc, then there is not a lot you can do about it other than keep topping up with a trim restorer or replace the plastic housing

You can sometimes replenish plastics by heating them up with a heat gun, no I have NOT gone mad

But this only works on textured plastic so please DO NOT try this, plus you would know doubt scorched the paint on the plastic mirror casing.

But this is what you can sometimes get away with doing

    And that’s magic
