Hi, I wonder if someone can help please. I managed to knock off my rear view mirror this morning and can't see how to get it back home. The fitting has three retaining 'spring' clips, and three locating pins. I am relectant to reach for the big hammer and there must be a knack to this one.

I was stopped by a pedestrian policeman on the way home from work, who pointed out that the mirror was missing. I advised that I could cope quite well on my external mirrors which he accepted, but told me that he had pulled my over because my boot lid was wide open...embarrased?

If it's anything like the E36 you have to put the mirror on an angle and twist clockwise IIRC
