I noticed recently one of my number plate lights had lost the lens cover and coroded the bulb holder. I thought the holder itself could be replaced but found the surround comes as a whole unit.Telephoned some breakers looking for a replacement in titan silver to avoid painting but sadly no joy.Curiosity got the better of me and i contacted local dealer was quoted £119.76 for one painted by them and £203.02 for it coming factory painted.Shocked at big price difference and was told this is common fault with these anyone else had this problem.

Can the internals be repaired, after all its surely just a simple rewiring job?

so i presume on an earlier bulb replacement damage may have been done to the lense so that i didn't fit tightly afterwards?
