So last saturday i ahd to repair my rear arches and inner arches on my 330d sport. The saphire black went on lovely but i cocked up the clearcoat so im going to flat them down and do it again next sat. Any how was just after some recomendations ref a rubbing down compound after wet and drying the clear coat? Ive been suggested g3 but from what ive seen it makes a bloody mess compared to some of the others.

It does make a mess but its good stuff. If you get the liquid form it creates slighlty less splatter. Have a look at Menzerna polishes or megs if your after main stream products.

I've used 3M fast cut before and its very good stuff, no splatter and no need to add water, best used with their own pads though.

The chap in my local paint shop said about the 3m fast cut but it was quite a bit more expensive than the g3. I might give that a go seeing as im pretty sure my uncle has some still. thanks

G3 or the more aggressive G6 are still good, but yes, splatter can be an issue. I use both of these and Meg's along with Kent Industries and also have some Menzerna..... i have a Polishing habbit !!!

I get my 3m products for free
You could try ebay there's some bargains on there to be had
Once i've used my last bit of g3 I won't be buying it again unless I have to. I find the 3M FC to leave a nice finish, although hazy. And 3M Ultrafina sorts that out really quick with no mess. Once you've tried it you'll see what I mean, its the only products I will use on a black car

Can't go wrong with 3M as sham says, or an excellent alternative is the menzerna range.. forget the exact name but they do a great cutting compound

Post up pics when you've buffed it up mate, always nice to see a gleaming black car
