    As above really

Looking at ordering some pressed plates from dubmeister but they're asking for my docs Don't really want to send them tbh

Anyone know of anywhere that do legal pressed plates without sending your documents away?

    Cheers people

Yeah Liam you'll have to send them off before Dubmeister will supply legal plates.. it's like if you go into halfords or a motor factors they'll want proof you own the car and are insured before supplying plates..

Obviously this whole system is undermined by people on eBay selling legal plates (standard type) with no questions asked!

I've got german pressed plates and have never had any problem in over a year of using them.. also passed my MOT with no questions asked (mainly because I know the guys in the garage though!).. Up to you though mate, personal preference of course, I figure if police do stop you 9 times out of 10 for a 1st time they'll give you a warning..

Personally aswell I think the "legal" pressed plates look sh*te, something not quite right about the them.. I just can't help but think if you aren't going to go full hog and have the plates you really want (albeit taking a chance of a £60 fine!) then have standard ones.. thats just my contraversial view though lol!!

Realistically though mate unless you get stopped by a absolutely d*ckhead of a copper having a bad day they aren't going to fine you and give you points on 1st warning.. just play innocent..

Ooooh illegal are they? Im terribly sorry they were on the car when I bought it, I do apologise I'll get them replaced ASAP!

From a slightly more helpful stand point have you seen these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pressed-Metal-...item1c1a6815ab

Same as what dubmeister do but they don't ask for documents...

Pressed plates are illegal of anykind as far as I am aware. 'All vehicles manufactured after 1 January 1973 must display number plates of reflex-reflecting material, white at the front and yellow at the rear, with black characters. This type of reflecting plate was permitted as an option from 1968: many vehicles first registered before 1973 may therefore carry the white/yellow reflective plates and, where they were first registered during or after 1968, they may have carried such plates since new.' Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle...United_Kingdom

These pressed plates arent reflective are they? Therefore illegal according to that.
