    Heya guys,

been a long time since i been on here :( recently moved into a new house so lifes being hectic atm, but its getting better and i have the internet now woo and im back woo! so i have a question, how long does the bodywork come under warranty from date of registration, there is quite a bit of bubbling under the paint on the passengers rear panel! any ideas what this could be? ill try and add pictures soon, possibly rust?

    Cheers

    Liam

sounds like rust mate.. normally the sign of a bad repair by a previous owner too be honest..

how long have you had the car?

any signs that the car's been previously repaired??

yeah mate rust was my 1st thought, 2nd was bad repair, any ideas how to find out about previous damage? ive had the car 5 months now bought it from a garage near me! no obvious signs mate bodywork looks fine and the area around the possible rust seems all good also, certainly not been filled! theres a 2 ft strip of this rust, possibly a dodgy panel from new?

well the problem is that these days it tends to be cheaper to get light damage repaired privately rather than go through insurance so although your motor would probably be HPI clear its unlikely (especially as its the fast compact!!) that its got to 8 years old without having any sort of light damage/repair..

I know with my car its HPI clear but on close inspection of some areas of the car you can see its had a few lights knocks in its life then been repaired... nothing major though thankfully.

I've certainly never heard of a faulty panel from new rusting after 8 years to be honest mate and I would say its highly unlikely..

Probably had a scrape at some point and has been repaired to sell rather than done properly.. shouldn't be the end of the world to get it resprayed though..

get some pics and i'll get my mate whos a panel beater/sprayer to see what sort of prices he'd charge so you could get an idea before you go to any bodyshops..

yeah your right it is Highly unlikely or near possible not to have any reapirs 1stly as shes 8 years old and 2ndly had 4 previous owners, the last 1 was female.....! ill get some pictures up later to give a better idea! i need the tail gate sprayed also, so both at the same time would be ideal!

    cheers for your help mate

    lmao!

definitely best to get tailgate done at the same time.. depending on where the suspected rust is there probably wouldn't be too much spraying needed on the rear quarter, probably more preparation work!

once you got the pics up i'll try and get a rough idea for prices so you know what to expect before you contact any bodyshops
