    hey guys, how do you remove an exhaust trim on a e46 compact? mines got a black one on and its worn so got an official bmw one to replace it.tried to pull the old one off just wudnt budge. any ideas?

    do they not have grub screws on the underside?? - the Z3 do and I thought it might be similar?.. does your new trims not give you an idea how they fit??

    what do lugs look like? cant remember feeling or seeing any screws to be honest

    If you are talking about the tail pipe tip, then it is going to be very difficult to remove. Tail pipe expansion has probably welded it on and the rust won't help either.

    The lugs sounds familiar. I would jack the rear up and have a look, I reckon its lugs as mentioned.

    My one was quite black too, but I just sanded it down lightly and its gleaming again...

    What about applying heat slowly and gently to the trim if there are no lugs or grub screws holding it on?
    To do: Far too much.....

    I'm just a lottery win away from that 335i.........and a Series 3 Discovery..........and an old Mini.........and an E30 325i........
