The links are needed for the E46 as the links attach to the struts...

anyone got any experience of either eibach springs or hottuning coilovers on an e46 compact??? any advise or experiences would be grately appreciated!!
Eibach are one of the best but you got loads to choose from, low budget like PI, Apex to Eibach and Koni's. All depends on your budget. I lowered mine on some Apex springs and the ride is good but not amazing but definitely worth doing. If your using the car on a daily basis i would get springs, if your looking to use on track, get coilovers. But with the power output from your car, might also be more of a reason to go for springs rather coils.

Heres my car on 18s before and after it being lowered:

No rubbing at all, im even thinking of putting spacers on.

well my budget would allow for eibach springs, just about!! but thinking of going for coilovers simply because i can adjust the drop to get the ride i want!!

i really dont know at the moment!! i know whateve decision i make its going to be an improvement, its just that im worried about dropping it on springs then not being happy with the quality of the ride!!

as far as eibach goes, sport or pro springs for a better ride??

i was looking at your car before "L16YD L" because it gives a good indication to me because mines the same colour just with mv2 alloys! whats the drop on yours? 40mm???

I think 35mm all round. Eibach pro kit is the better ones. I used to have coilovers and sometimes if you dont get the setting right you can be messing around all the time adjusting them. Some food for thought.

did you need anything but the springs when you lowered you compact l16yd l???

just wondered as i know you need shorter drop links when you fit the coilovers!

also do you think it's worth changing the bushes all round for powerflex ones when lowering the car??

its always worth changing to powerflex wishbone bushes
ideal time to do it too...as any work on the suspension will mean getting the angles reset, you could argue its cheaper to do it all at once
