hey guys, i have an e46 compact and my dip light seems very faint. full beams is powerful though! i tend to turn my front fogs to compensate but thats gtting annoying now. i was looking at getting new xenon bulbs. are these on a simple plug and play type thing or do i need to do some sort of conversion! Im not referring to HID angel lights thought they would be a nice to have sometime in the future. also is there anything specific in terms of a brand, power etc i should go for?
joe your right the sides are 501s. checked my manual today too, not sure y i didnt do that first seems H7s are the right bulb for the main beam and the dip lights. just ordered myself two sets of philips blue vision bulbs, they come with free side lights, result!
If the new bulbs don't sort your problem then try lifting/lowering the light pattern by adjusting the screw on top whilst having your car parked against a wall.
pallarisari when you get your new bulbs would you beable to post a picture at night so we can see the results? Because if they are good then i'm going to buy 1 at my local Euro parts :thumbsup
sure mate ill install them as soon as they arrive. got mine off ebay so could be a week or so till they come. 20quid which was cheaper than euro parts and free side bulbs too!
Ah dam today in was in collage and i put my front fogs on and then my friend said that only one of them was working. Does any one know how much a standard fog light bulb is £ thanks
I dont really use my Fogs but yeah £2.50 ill can afford that lol i go halfords and see if they have them. But i'M going to do fogs whilst i do the main beam headlights. So it balances everything out thanks again mate
so month later and the bulbs havent arrived. royal mail must have lost the parcel, luckily the seller was nice enough to refund them. anyone know where else i can get hold of them?
Powerbulbs search it in google... Free delivery i think and free sidelights.. I reccommend the phillips blue vision for the dipped and the phillips extreme for full beam..
lost in post is hardly a freedie though suppose some lucky git in the royal mail has nice bulbs now lol... no worires mate, soon as i get them ill grab some pics for ya
ahahha yeh your recommendation made sense Will try get a before and after. if i ever find parking on my road to do that! nightmare getting any space to work on the motor.
i changed them during hte day so im sure the difference wont be as noticeable. ill snap again this evening. soo far i wouldnt go as far as saying they create the "Xenon effect". I have notice that they are stronger though so not all is lost
The standard bulbs on the compact are really bad....!
I got some bulbs too (didnt want to dable into HID kit etc) and they make a difference. Mine are meant to be road legal & have warranty so cant be bad for under a tenner??
Your car looks updated/fresh with these bulbs
Small pictures though
