I am now looking to install a HID kit to my car. I have some queries however before I purchase anything.

Firstly, is it true that I do not need seperate bulb holders as my vehicle is the facelift model?

Secondly, I do not have projector lights, so will I need the H7R's or will the H7's be fine?

and finally, some opinions. Do you guys reccomend 6000k or 8000k? I would like something that is noticeably different to OEM, however, I do not want something that looks 'chavvy', for want of a better word. I would like a blueish tint, similar to the Audi's.

Thanks in advance for your views
    Regards

    Ray

cant help with the bulb holder question, sorry
you'll need the H7R hid's so that you dont dazzle oncoming traffic
my kit is the 6k colour temp...plenty blue enough not to look standard.
what part of london you in?...you're welcome to look at mine for colour (i'm in essex)

I'm over in Enfield mate. Thanks for the offer. Next time I'm over Lakeside way I will look you up. 6k's do seem to be the popular choice. If you say it gives off a blueish tint, then that is good enough for me. Maybe the 8000's will be too blue.

Anyone any ideas on the holders?
    Regards

    Ray

personally i would go for 4300k, not because it will have a higher light output than 6000k but its white-white, im against any sort of blue tinted light no matter how little..

Yes you will need the H7R for the relfective housing
if you need more info you can try and ask craigledden. he's recetnly just put HIDs on his e46 too

the last person i spoke to did not need bulb holders on his facelift to answer that question

6000k are the brightest and closest to sunbeam and h7r for non projector

Lovely, cheers mate. I suppose I can get the kit, then if I need the bulb holders I can buy them seperatly. Some people say you need them on facelifts, and some people say you don't. Would be nice if anyone with a facelift has the hids fitted. That way I would know for sure if the holders were needed or not.

you can google these holders and compare them with how your own bulbs are held in place...or just look at your dip beam bulbs...if they are secured by a large plastic ferrule, you need holders...if there is a bent wire holding the bulbs in place then you dont

if your headlamp has a cover on the back then you dont need the holders, they just fit in your orginal clips!

How do you mean by a cover mate? For me to take out my bulbs, all I need to do is grad the plug, twist 30ish degrees then pull out. The bulb itself just pushes into the plug
