    Hi all,

I've been doing a bit of reading around the options for upgrading my headlights, preferably to HIDs. I'd like them to look factory fitted, so angel eyes are probably out (did BMW do angel eyes on any e46, maybe I could be convinced?). I've got a few questions that I haven't been able to find definitive answers to:

    1. My car is a 2001 pre-facelift model, can I simply buy OEM HID headlights off eBay and plug them in? Are they the same connectors?

    2. Ideally, I'd like bi-xenon lights, but I think these were only available post-facelift. Do these fit?

    Thanks!

    Gareth

Hiya mate.. I fitted a set of factory xenons to my 03 plate coupe.. Only problem is that you cant wire up the factory ballasts( well you can but will cost an absolute fortune).. So i fitted the projector unit, and just wired up a hid kit and fixed that in instead and looks the exact same.. Only thing is an OEM headlight will cost a fortune!!

yeah, i'm thinking of going the Depo route, as they can be had with HID Xenons for £289 from BMstyling.co.uk

Only thing is i'm not sure about the angel eyes. Hmmmmm

i had depo angel eye xenons in my 330ci sport when i had it. They did look the part visually but i found i had to set the pattern high to get any sort of decent beam on the road. They are not fitted with the best projectors in the world.

i have put a facelift front end on my pre face lift e46 model and i have not go angel eye's. I think they look ok and stand out compared to the few e46 around my area. They dont look out of place on it, well i dont think so anyway. ill go and get a quick picture of it in a minute with the angel eye's on and hopefully it will help you decide for yourself and your own car
