    Hi,

I'm trying to find a driver's or both front seats with adjustable lumbar support.

1st question - when this was purchased from new as an option was there both a manual and electric option? I've heard of the electric option with a pump inflating the lumbar support in the seat but not of a manual style control?

2nd - I think that the front seats from a saloon but not coupe or convertible would fit straight into an E46 Touring - is that correct?

3rd - as finding seats with lumbar support on the 2nd hand market is proving extremely difficult are there any other models of seats that might fit. For example I found this old post about somebody fitting E46 seats into an X5.

The more options I have, the better my chances!

    Thanks,
    Andy

    I think it's only electric.

Retrofitting it to your existing seats may be an option.

You'd need part 3,4 and 5, plus some sort of loom and switch (could not find those parts).

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I have seen info on retrofitting before, however I haven't been able to get my BMW main dealer or my local specialist to quote me for the parts or doing this as they aren't sure exactly which parts or how much work it would be. I'm too scared to let them just experiment at my expense.....a bit of a blank cheque...and hence am just looking for a seat that already has it.

I am surprised so few 3-series have this option as I find the back support particularly poor.

    Cheers,
    Andy

My 330d touring has lumbar support, but I need the seats! Probably ony a few have them because it was a £295 option.

£295 doesn't seem that much over the price of a new car....

Anyhow, still hoping someone will come back about the compatibility of other model seats in the E46....

    Cheers,
    Andy
