    HID's that you fit into your exsiting light units, will not be set up correctly so when it comes to MOT time it will fail on the lights
    Incorrect. Although technically illegal, cars with xenons will pass an MOT provided the xenons are not bluey colour, technically all they have to be is aligned correctly and a yellow or white colour. 6000k is the best colour temp to go for xenons, pure white with a faint blue tinge, I and many other people I know have passed MOT's fine with these in, as well as 8000k xenons.

    Some MOT testers may be very harsh, but I don't think its a fail.
    Brand new cars with xenons must have auto-levellers and headlight washers to make them legal - this is where the confusion lies.

    how will they be alligned correctly if you have put them in your self?
    using the same concave mirror for the standard lower out put bulb will cause the light from the higher powered light to be spread all over the place, so you dont get the correct focus or spread which will fail your MOT
    which is why most HIDs use projectors

    Yeah, most HIDs do use projectors and I probably wouldn't have converted my headlights to HIDs had I not got projectors, as I think HIDs only look right in projectors. However, there are plenty of people on here, as well as many people I know, not to mention many many people I see and don't know on the roads on a dailly basis who have converted their non-projector headlights (reflector-type headlights) to HIDs and passed MOT's no problem.

    You can buy special HID bulbs for Reflector-type headlights which therefore produces much, much less scatter which is why you can pass MOT's no problem after a HID conversion. If you have projectors, its easy. If you don't, get the right bulb. Simple.

    You cannot keep saying that you will definitely fail an MOT, because like I've said a couple of times now, I know many people without projector headlights who have passed an MOT no problem at different garages.

    just because they pass the MOT dosent make them legal,
    they wont have an 'E' mark or a BS number

    but my original point was more to the fact that putting HIDs into a normal head lamp will most probably damege the plastic lense, as it was never designed for the heat of a 6000k-8000k hid

    I never said that just because they passed an MOT they were legal, in fact I stated;

    Maybe you should read my threads properly first and just accept that you were wrong in assuming that aftermarket HIDs would fail an MOT when they don't.
    I was originally replying to this topic to correct you, letting the OP know that he could pass an MOT with a HID conversion, something which you didn't seem to understand until I had repeated this with evidence over and over.

    Your original point looked to me like you were explicitly stating that HID conversions will fail an MOT, you just added the info about them possibly burning away plastic.

    Let's leave it at that please, as what was originally a simple correction has ended up hijacking the original posters aim of this thread.
