I'm new to this forum and to BMWs. I recently bought a beautiful 530d saloon (manual, leather, all the toys, 65k on the clock, one previous owner, fully documented BMWSH, all the bills & MOTs) and am working my way through some small improvements. It is the embodiment of the iron fist in the velvet glove and I'd like to keep it in mint condition.
The offside (driver's) door mirror assembly is a little loose and wobbly. This doesn't affect its function - the mirror doesn't shake or produce blurred images at speed but the whole assembly is noticeably looser/wobblier than the nearside assembly. (The mirrors also fold electrically - the o/s mirror folds just as well as the n/s one).
Is there a simple adjustment that will 'tighten up' the door mirror? It feels as though there is some looseness around a pivot point. Is it easy to get inside the mirror assembly to get access? Any help would be gratefully received.
