    super quick question i've run out of normal black but i've a can of carplan acrylic paint i'm supposed to be using to do a ford ka bumpers , can i use this to do the grilles on the e46 or will it not take ,

    No need to sand it, Just get a grey scotchbrite pad and give the grilles a light scuff so the paint will take nicely as that's exactly what i did with mine.

    Do you also paint the fins behind the chrome or do you tape them off?

    I painted the lot but broke a couple of clips on the bonnet catch side so need to replace anyway now , but it worked with a bit of keying in
