    Hi

One of the rear lights on my E39 has been cracked Dunno how it happened but im not too happy bout it.

Im struggling to figure out what ones i have.

The ones i have fitted are clear - the top clear section and the bottom bit in the middle are both the same pattern whereas the normal Hella ones differ in this aspect.... (which i don't like)

The ones i found which do match are called Hella Celis but they all have LED written after this.... And something about Ballasts

The lights i have aren't hella's they are just normal bulbs as far as i know.

I would like to fit some genuine Hella's but what's the deal with ballasts am i going to need some ?

the facelift lights are LED mate and as such need ballast boxes. if you fit them without then they will throw warning lights up. Finding teh ballast boxes for sale on their own are like hens teeth. You also need to do a bit of drilling to get the facelift lights to fit a pre facelift

So facelift use LED's rather than normal bulbs ? What's a ballast box anyway ?

I'll check the bulbs fitted in mine again tomorrow, if they are the normal type is my only option the normal hella ones ?

yeah, they aint cheap, have seen them cheaper than that though. Problem is you can pick the lights up easy enough but trying to find the ballasts is impossible

Can i not just buy the ballasts from BMW or something ? I mean it's a ballast would it be expensive?

Any shot of a link to cheaper genuine Celis lights ?

Hmm ok. So £294 inc ballasts wouldn't be bad i guess.

I know they are so pricey. I went to get new badges and they wanted £25 each for them
