    Hi,

I've been agaisn't HID's for a while, all the chav's round here in there junk Saxo's run about with the things totally misaligned.

I had a go in a car today with properly set up HID's and i've got to say im sold on them.

I've got facelight Angel eye headlights so i should have projector lense's for the dipped beams right ?

Im not sure what the deal is with the facelift lights being fitted on a prefacelift car - under the hood all the bulbs etc just plug straight into the correct wiring loom no splicing etc so who ever did it did a proper job.

Any recommendations on what kit to get ? For driving to work etc dipped will be enough but i live out in the sticks so wouldn't mind a set for the main beam too but they are just reflecters but i understand you can now get kits designed for reflectors ?

Are these slim ballast's good ? I've read lots about them failing.

Try hids for you think its hids4u.co.uk thats where i got mine. It saves on bulb warning out lights which can harm the obc. I think dipped would be enough but i wouldnt recommend full beam as hids take two to three secs to warm up which will give bother when flashing etc and stay away from slim ballasts they are rubbish

Yeah the bulb warning thing - i need a "canbus" set right ?

I was under the impression that once the lights have been on they stay hot enough to flash OK ? I think my mate just leaves his on before driving off to solve the flashing thing. Or is there some black magic at work ?

Yeah you need a canbus set just beware so called error free kits on ebay.

Well that is a way to get round it i suppose but its really personal choice as it would be a pain driving with full beam on all the time plus would be difficult to flash during the day. Most people myself included dont bother with the main beam as they are only turned on when no ones about thus no one can see them lol plus you will have the bother of fitting two ballasts per headlamp so could be a little crowded. If it were me id leave em and spend the money on 6000k angel eyes to go wiith your dip beam

    OK interresting stuff.

I've already got 6000k angel eyes I think there rated at 7k actually.

Good point about fitting two ballasts in.

Im not fussed at all about people seeing them - it's not a look at me mod im wanting it's so that the headlights offer more light so i can see better at night.

There's all sorts of dodgy buggers roaming around oop here at nights.
